A Special Trip

When Jesus was a tiny baby, his mom, Mary, and dad, Joseph, wanted to say “Thanks, God!” for him. They lived in Bethlehem, but they took a trip to Jerusalem. That’s where the temple was—a giant building where people talked to God. “Let’s go!” they said.

Walking to Jerusalem

The trip was fun! They walked with friends. The road was dusty. Mary carried baby Jesus. He was all wrapped up, cozy and cute. Joseph might’ve carried a bag. They sang happy songs along the way. Jerusalem was far, but they were excited!

The Busy Temple

When they got there, the temple was buzzing! People laughed and prayed. Birds chirped—coo, coo! It had big stones and tall steps. Everyone brought gifts for God. Mary and Joseph had two little doves. “These are for you, God!” they said. The doves were soft and fluffy.

Baby Jesus Meets Simeon

Inside, an old man named Simeon saw them. He had white hair and twinkly eyes. God told him, “You’ll see the Savior before you’re super old!” Simeon waited forever. When he saw Jesus, he ran over. “Can I hold him?” he asked. Mary smiled. “Sure!”

Simeon’s Happy Song

Simeon hugged Jesus tight. “This is him—the Savior!” he said. His face glowed like a happy sun. He sang a song to God. “Thank you! Now I can rest easy!” he chirped. Jesus wiggled in his arms. Everyone nearby smiled. Simeon was so excited!

Anna Joins the Fun

Then, an old lady named Anna bounced over. She was like a super-duper grandma! Anna stayed at the temple all the time, praying and helping. She saw Jesus and clapped. “It’s him! God’s special gift!” she cheered. Her voice was loud and happy.

Spreading the News

Anna told everyone, “Look at this baby! He’s here to help us!” People turned to see. Some said, “Wow!” Others whispered, “Really?” Jesus yawned. He was so little, but already making waves! Mary and Joseph grinned. Their baby was a star!

Heading Home

Mary and Joseph hugged Jesus. “Time to go!” they said. They thanked God and left the temple. Simeon waved goodbye. Anna kept talking about Jesus to anyone who’d listen. The trip home was quiet. Mary thought about everything. “He’s so special,” she said.
