Jesus Carries the Cross
After the trial, the leaders gave Jesus to the soldiers. They hurt Him and made Him carry a heavy wooden cross. People watched as He walked up a hill called Calvary. It was a sad day.
Jesus didn’t fight or yell. He kept walking because He knew this was part of God’s plan. He was showing love even when things were hard.
Jesus Is Put on the Cross
When they reached the hill, the soldiers nailed Jesus to the cross. They put two other men on crosses beside Him. The sky turned dark. People stood far away, watching quietly.
Some people were mean and shouted. But Jesus didn’t get angry. He prayed,
“Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they are doing.”

Jesus Dies for Us
Jesus hung on the cross for hours. Even then, He showed kindness. He told one of the men near Him that they would be together in heaven. He asked His friend John to take care of His mother, Mary.
Finally, Jesus took one last breath and said, “It is finished.” Then He died. The ground shook. The sky grew very dark.

What This Teaches Us
Jesus didn’t die because He had to. He chose to give His life out of love. He took the place of all people and made a way for us to be close to God. He showed what true love looks like.
Would you remember Jesus when you see a cross?
Moral of the Story
