The Walls of Jericho

A long time ago, God’s people, the Israelites, were on a journey to the Promised Land. They had wandered in the desert for forty years, and now they were finally near their new home. But there was one problem—the great city of Jericho stood in their way.

Jericho had huge, strong walls all around it. The people inside the city thought they were safe. They did not believe in God, and they did not want the Israelites to enter. But God had a special plan for His people!

God’s Command to Joshua

God chose Joshua to lead the Israelites. One day, He spoke to Joshua and said,
“Do not be afraid. I have given Jericho into your hands. But you must follow my instructions.”

Joshua listened carefully. He gathered the Israelites and told them what God wanted them to do. It was a strange plan—no fighting, no breaking the walls, just marching!

Marching Around Jericho

For six days, the Israelites did exactly what God commanded. Every morning, the priests took their trumpets made of ram’s horns, and the people followed behind them. They marched once around the city in complete silence, except for the sound of the trumpets.

The people of Jericho were watching from their walls. Some laughed, some were confused, and some were scared. “Why are they just marching?” they wondered.

But the Israelites trusted God’s plan.

The Seventh Day – The Great Miracle

On the seventh day, Joshua told the people,
“Today, we will march around Jericho seven times. When I give the signal, shout as loud as you can!”

The Israelites marched once… twice… three times… all the way to seven times around the city. Then, Joshua lifted his hand, and the priests blew their trumpets loudly.

“Shout!” Joshua commanded.

All the Israelites shouted with all their strength! Suddenly, something incredible happened—the mighty walls of Jericho began to shake! The ground trembled, and with a loud crash, the walls fell down flat!

The Victory of Faith

The Israelites rushed into the city and took it just as God had promised. They knew it wasn’t their strength that won the battle—it was God’s power and their faith in Him.

Because Joshua and the Israelites obeyed God, they entered the Promised Land, and Jericho was no longer a barrier.

Moral of the Story

Faith in God can break any barrier. The Israelites didn’t fight with swords or weapons, but with obedience and trust in God. No matter how big a problem seems, if we listen to God and follow His ways, He will guide us to victory.
