A Sad Day in Bethany
Lazarus lived in a town called Bethany. He had two sisters, Mary and Martha. They were all good friends of Jesus. One day, Lazarus got very sick. His sisters sent a message to Jesus and asked Him to come quickly.
But Jesus didn’t come right away. He stayed where He was for two more days. Mary and Martha were confused and very sad. They didn’t understand why Jesus waited.
Jesus Finally Comes
When Jesus arrived in Bethany, Lazarus had already been dead for four days. Many people had come to visit and comfort the sisters. Martha ran to Jesus and said, “Lord, if You had been here, Lazarus would not have died.”
Jesus said, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha believed in the future resurrection, but Jesus meant right now. Mary also came and cried at Jesus’ feet. He felt their sadness and began to cry too.

The Miracle at the Tomb
Jesus asked to be taken to the tomb. It was a cave with a big stone in front. He told them to roll the stone away. Martha was worried because Lazarus had been dead for four days.
Jesus prayed to God and then called out loudly,
“Lazarus, come out!”
Suddenly, Lazarus came walking out of the tomb! He was alive, wrapped in cloths. Everyone was shocked and happy.

What This Teaches Us
Jesus has power over life and death. He cared deeply for His friends. He still cares for you. When you feel sad or scared, remember that Jesus can bring hope even when things seem impossible.
