Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess named Snow White. She lived in a grand castle with her stepmother, the queen. The queen was very vain and loved to look at herself in the mirror. Every day, she would ask her magic mirror, “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?” And the mirror would reply, “You are, my queen.”
One day, however, the mirror answered differently. It said, “Snow White is the fairest of them all.” The queen was furious and jealous of Snow White’s beauty. She ordered her huntsman to take Snow White to the forest and kill her.
The huntsman was kind-hearted and couldn’t bear to harm the princess. He left her in the forest and told her to run away and never come back. Snow White wandered through the forest until she came across a small cottage. She knocked on the door, but nobody answered. She went inside and found that the house belonged to seven little dwarfs.
The dwarfs were surprised to find Snow White in their house, but they welcomed her with open arms. They offered her a place to stay and asked her to keep their house clean and tidy in return. Snow White happily agreed.
Meanwhile, the queen had asked the magic mirror once again who was the fairest of them all. To her dismay, the mirror still said it was Snow White. The queen decided to take matters into her own hands and disguised herself as an old woman. She went to the cottage and offered Snow White a poisoned apple. Snow White took a bite and fell into a deep sleep.
When the dwarfs returned home, they found Snow White lying on the floor. They realized what had happened and were heartbroken. They put her in a glass coffin and placed it on a hilltop. Time passed, and one day a prince came riding through the forest. He saw Snow White in her glass coffin and fell in love with her at first sight. He begged the dwarfs to let him take Snow White away and promised to take good care of her.
The dwarfs agreed, and the prince took Snow White back to his castle. As he was carrying her, he stumbled and the piece of poisoned apple became dislodged from her throat. Snow White awoke from her slumber, and the prince was overjoyed. They fell in love and lived happily ever after.
Moral of the story:
Beauty is only skin deep, and jealousy can lead to terrible consequences. Kindness and compassion towards others are more important than superficial appearances.
