Pip the Sleepy Penguin: Read the Story

Pip was a little penguin who lived on the ice. Pip loved to slide, swim and splash. But Pip did not like bedtime.

“One more slide!” Pip said to Mama Penguin.

“One more slide,” said Mama.

Pip slid down the ice hill. Whoosh! Then Pip waddled back up, slowly, slowly. “One more swim!” said Pip, with a big yawn.

“One more swim,” said Mama.

Pip swam in a little circle. Splish, splash. Then Pip waddled out, very slowly this time. “One more…” Pip yawned an even bigger yawn. “One more cuddle?”

Mama Penguin wrapped her soft wing around Pip. It was warm, like a blanket. Pip’s eyes went blink, blink… and then they stayed shut.

“Goodnight, Pip,” whispered Mama. And the snow fell softly all around them.
