Mia and the Cloud Pillow: Read the Story

Mia’s pillow was flat and lumpy. “I can’t sleep on this,” she grumbled, punching it with her fist.

Just then, a small white cloud floated in through her open window. It was round and fluffy, like a big ball of cotton.

“Hello,” said the cloud in a soft, puffy voice. “I heard someone needs a pillow.”

Mia’s eyes went wide. “You can be a pillow?”

“I can be anything soft,” said the cloud. It wiggled itself under Mia’s head. It felt like lying on warm marshmallows.

“Where do you go during the day?” Mia asked.

“I float over the mountains,” said the cloud. “I give the flowers a drink of rain. Sometimes I make shapes for children to find. Yesterday I was a rabbit.”

“I saw a rabbit cloud yesterday!” said Mia.

“That was me,” said the cloud, and it giggled, which made Mia’s head bounce up and down.

The cloud began to hum a gentle tune, the sound of wind across a quiet sky. Mia felt herself floating too, over hills and rivers, high above her town.

In the morning, the cloud was gone. But Mia’s old pillow was fluffy and soft, and on her window there were tiny drops of rain, shaped just like a smile.
