The Honest Little Fox: Read the Story

Fern the fox found a shiny red ball in the forest. It was the best ball she had ever seen. She bounced it and chased it all morning.

Then she heard someone crying. It was Benny Bear. “I lost my red ball,” he sobbed. “My grandpa gave it to me.”

Fern looked at the ball under her paw. She could keep it, and no one would ever know. But her tummy felt funny and twisty inside.

“Benny,” she said. “Is this your ball?”

Benny’s face lit up. “You found it! Thank you, Fern!” Then he said, “Do you want to play with it together?”

They played all afternoon. That night, Fern’s tummy didn’t feel twisty at all. She fell asleep feeling light and happy.
