Ravi and the Mango Tree is a sharing story for kids about a boy, his mango tree and his elderly neighbor. It shows how kindness comes back around.
Ravi and the Mango Tree: Read the Story
Ravi had a mango tree in his garden. Every summer it was full of sweet, golden mangoes.
One day, Ravi’s neighbor, old Mrs. Das, looked over the fence. “Those mangoes look delicious,” she said. “My mango tree died last winter.”
Ravi looked at his basket. He had picked twenty mangoes, and he wanted to eat all of them. But he thought about Mrs. Das with no mangoes at all. He picked out five of the best ones and gave them to her.
Mrs. Das was so happy she made mango jam and gave Ravi a jar. The next week, she baked mango cake and gave him a slice. Then she taught Ravi how to plant a mango seed in a pot.
By the end of the summer, Ravi had jam, cake, a new little mango tree and a new friend. He had given away five mangoes and got so much more back.
