The Two Little Seeds is a short moral story for kids about trying new things even when they feel scary. It’s a good one before a first day at school.
The Two Little Seeds: Read the Story
Two little seeds lay side by side in the soil. The first seed said, “I’m scared to grow. What if the rain is too cold? What if a bird eats my leaves? I’ll stay down here where it’s safe.”
The second seed said, “I want to see the sun.” So it pushed its tiny root down into the earth and its tiny shoot up toward the light. It was hard work. Some days it rained, and some days it was windy. But the little shoot kept growing.
Soon it was a tall sunflower, with a bright yellow face that followed the sun across the sky. Bees came to visit. Children stopped to smile at it.
Down in the soil, the first seed was still waiting. It was safe, but it never saw the sun.
The sunflower looked down and called softly, “Come up! It’s lovely here.” And the next spring, the first little seed was brave enough to try.
The Moral of the Story
