The Sleepy Dragon and the Brave Princess: Read the Story

In a kingdom by the sea, a dragon lived on top of the mountain. Every night, he snored. And every night, his snores rumbled down the mountain, shook the windows and woke up the whole kingdom.

“Somebody must stop that snoring!” said the King, very tired.

The knights were too scared to go. But Princess Lila was not. She packed a basket with a warm blanket, a cup of honey milk and a big fluffy pillow, and she climbed all the way up the mountain.

The dragon was enormous and purple, and he was snoring so loudly that the rocks rattled. Lila tapped his nose. “Excuse me, Mr. Dragon.”

The dragon opened one eye. “Hmm? What is it?”

“Your snoring is keeping everyone awake,” said Lila. “Why do you snore so loudly?”

The dragon sighed. “My bed is made of hard rocks. I can’t get comfortable, so I sleep with my mouth open.”

Lila smiled. She gave him the honey milk to drink. She put the fluffy pillow under his big head and tucked the blanket over his nose. The dragon closed his mouth, curled up his tail and let out one small, happy sigh.

The kingdom was quiet. Down in the castle, the King yawned and fell fast asleep. And from that night on, Princess Lila brought the dragon a new pillow every month, and the whole kingdom slept soundly.

The Moral of the Story
